THE HISTORY
A Legacy Continued on Bourbon Street
At 612 Bourbon Street, layers of New Orleans history have always lived shoulder to shoulder—music, food, and the constant rhythm of the French Quarter itself. Now, that lineage continues with the opening of Two Sisters on Bourbon, a new expression of the iconic Court of Two Sisters, thoughtfully rooted in the building’s past while bringing its unmistakable hospitality to one of the city’s most storied streets.

The History of 612 Bourbon Street
Located in the heart of New Orleans’ French Quarter, 612 Bourbon Street has long reflected the evolving spirit of the city itself—where music, food, and gathering have always converged. Bourbon Street, once a primarily residential thoroughfare, transformed over generations into one of the city’s most recognizable cultural corridors. As entertainment venues replaced private homes, properties like 612 Bourbon adapted alongside the neighborhood, each chapter adding to the layered story of the address.
During the 1970s, 612 Bourbon Street operated as a jazz club, part of a period when live music reclaimed Bourbon Street in a more intimate, club-driven form. These venues offered close proximity between musicians and audiences, capturing the raw energy of New Orleans jazz during an era of revival and experimentation.
Night after night, the space echoed with brass, rhythm, and improvisation—continuing a musical tradition that has always defined the French Quarter after dark.

In the 1980s, the building shifted from music to food, becoming Court Tavern Po’Boys, a casual eatery that catered to locals, service industry workers, and late-night visitors alike. Known for classic New Orleans sandwiches and an unpretentious atmosphere, Court Tavern Po’Boys became part of the everyday pulse of Bourbon Street. It was a place to refuel between sets, shifts, and celebrations—grounded, accessible, and unmistakably local.
Today, 612 Bourbon Street enters a new chapter with the opening of Two Sisters on Bourbon, a new venue connected to the legendary Court of Two Sisters. This latest evolution honors the building’s past while elevating it through the lens of one of New Orleans’ most respected dining institutions. By weaving together music, culinary tradition, and historic continuity, Two Sisters on Bourbon stands as both a tribute to what came before and a confident step into the future of Bourbon Street.
